About Rainbow Village 

Rainbow Village (also known as Rainbow Village) is a village with a unique art style in Taiwan. This village was created by Mr. Huang Yung-Fu. Mr. Huang was born in 1924, the eldest of a family of 4 siblings in Guangdong province, China . His artistic talent was revealed very early. However, he followed the military path to join the KMT in 1946. By 1949, the KMT was defeated, he and other soldiers fled to Taiwan and they were granted housing quarters. back to the island. Eventually, some settlements have become home to many veterans and their families spend most of their lives here.
In 2010, the Taiwan government planned to demolish the village and developers began to buy back land for redevelopment. Previously there were 1,200 houses, but after being informed of the relocation, almost everyone accepted compensation and moved to new places. At that time, only Mr. Huang and a few others persevered and remained alone in the village. The number of residents seriously reduced, making this place only 11 houses.
Being too frustrated with the village being demolished, Mr. Huang began painting unique paintings on the walls of his home and surrounding buildings as an attempt to preserve them. Increasingly, his artistic paintings became more and more unique throughout the village. His colorful works, including birds, animals and people, have gradually formed an interesting cultural identity. Later, students from nearby Ling Tung and Hung Kuang universities discovered his artwork and petitioned the Taichung mayor to preserve a collection of 11 unique residences. this again. It is from here, Rainbow Village was born and quickly became one of Taiwan's most attractive tourist destinations.

How to go to Rainbow Village

Rainbow Village is located at No. 56, Chun'an Road, Nantong District, west of downtown Taichung, Taiwan. The village is located right next to the road quite far from the city center and close to Ling Tung University. Previously, the village was also called Caihongjuan.
To go to the village, you have 3 options as follows:
Option 1: Take the THSR train to Taichung station, then take a taxi from Stration to China Village Village at a cost of about 160 - 200 NTD.
Option 2: Take the THSR train to Taichung station, then take a bus from Shandong Stration to the village. The buses you can take are buses 26, 70, 99. On weekends and public holidays, the 655 bus also leaves Xinwuri Station and stops right in front of Rainbow Village.
Option 3: Call Taxi or Uber for 150-200 yuan with a journey time of about 10 minutes.
Opening hours: Daily from 9am to 6pm
Due to the increasing popularity, the weekends here can be quite crowded. You should go early or go on weekdays to have enough comfortable space to visit and check - in.
